If the dog does something much further up the list than you expect (eg targeting the dresser with his nose), jackpot him. (Remember, a jackpot is a click followed by three or four high-quality treats and lots of praise.) Let him know he did something really clever! But don't expect him to repeat it straight away, and don't bump your criteria up until you're getting at least 8 out of 10 correct responses at the higher level of your list.
